Extraction of the Sample Data

Refer to Section 4 of Appendix H for guidance on how to select data records and sample sizes by generating a simple random sample.

The following table lists the sampling unit and the minimum sample size for each Part C reporting section. Note that these are only minimum sample sizes and larger samples may be necessary.

CMS requires the DVC to use a statistician who will use sound statistical principles to determine the appropriate sample size for each reporting section. If the reporting section has a population that’s smaller than the recommended sample size, use the entire population to select the final stage list.
