Reporting Findings for Standards Using Likert Scale
For Standards 1.b, 1.c, 1.d, 2.a, 3.a and 3.b, the scoring uses a 5-point Likert-type scale. DVCs review the percentage of records that meet the standards, and enter a score based on the Likert-type scale. The scale corresponds to the percentage of errors that are found in plan data as shown below:
- Contract data has more than 20% error in records – Contract gets a score of 1 for the given standard/sub-standard.
- Contract data has between 15.1% and 20% error in records – Contract gets a score of 2 for the given standard/sub-standard.
- Contract data has between 10.1% and 15% error in records – Contract gets a score of 3 for the given standard/sub-standard.
- Contract data has between 5.1% and 10% error in records – Contract gets a score of 4 for the given standard/sub-standard.
- Contract data has less than or equal to 5% error in records – Contract gets a score of 5 for the given standard/sub-standard.
Exhibit 8 in the DV Manual shows examples of different scenarios a DVC might face and corresponding scores DVCs assign to the contract for the standards using either Likert or binary scoring.
Refer to Section 5.2.2. of the DV Manual for more information on reporting findings using a Likert-type scale.
